I stopped in a local B&M to take a look at lighters since my new IM Double Corona was swipped (covered in another thread!). Anyway, the selection of soft flame lighters was a little weak. I ended up picking up a fairly inexpensive ($32) Colibri (no box/paperwork included), so not really sure how old the model is, though it does show the number 780 on the bottom, so I guess that's the model. It worked fine at the store, giving me a nice large soft flame. The store filled it up with butane (brand unknown) when I bought it. Not long after I got home I tried it and noticed the flame was tiny, and the flame adjuster only allowed a maybe 1/2" flame at best.
I did some Googling and decided to purge the lighter of all the butane and refill. I have Zippo "Premium" Butane Fuel that I've used without any issues on my 2 Scorch torch lighters. First off, anyone know if the Zippo butane is good enough quality for the Colibri lighter? Maybe that's the problem? I've read about 3 or 4x refined fuels and maybe the Zippo fuel is too dirty for the Colibri? Or is it some other internal issue with the new lighter, though it worked fine at the store before the refills.
Thoughts?
