Xikar Traveling Humidor

Does anybody have experience with the Xikar traveling cases? I’m flying to upstate New York in 2 weeks with some buddies to rent a RV and see some live music for a few days at Watkins Glen. I plan on taking around 6-8 sticks with me so want them to be secure. I know that temperature change will be an issue but more concerned with humidity and physical damage. Thinking about the 15 count box and a 72% boveda pack.

Thoughts? Other ideas? Thanks!

I have the 10 count and use it regularly. I have been out of town for 10 days or less and never had an issue, I don't use any humidification for that length of stay. It is built rock solid and you could probably drive a truck over it.

I'm pretty sure I've got almost every count size they make, having just picked up a 50-80 count one. The only thing to be careful of, on the smaller ones is due to air pressure change from flying, they can be difficult to open. Be careful not to break it.

I was going to put it in my carry on. Any reason I shouldn't?

I will say that the seal on them is pretty good, to the point that after leaving Houston and then landing back at Sea level that it was almost glued shut. (As you go up the pressure inside bleeds out, then as you go down it sucks it shut).

I solved the problem, by taking a knife and putting a very small groove in the case. And I do mean small! Like barely a scratch.

I agree that it was small for a week away, in that case I just used a small tupperdor, that can hold about 15 sticks.

I can't help with the flying part, but my xikar has been dropped, kicked down the stairs(don't ask), and flung from a golf cart and bounced off the path at full speed. It's beat to hell, but still keeps a seal.
