Dos Hombres Review

This is the Two Guys smoke shop cheapie house blend. RockyP threw one of these into the trade we just did and I smoked it right away. I believe it was a Honduran one but not sure if plain or maduro. Anyway, it was a kick ass little smoke. The wrapper was as smooth as a babies behind and without the cartoony band, the cigar actually looked quite good. It had a nice sweet flavor that was on the medium side. The burn sucked for the first 2/3s but eventually evened out. But because the flavor was just my cup of tea tonight, I nubbed this thing with pleasure. At the rock-bottom prices these go for, it's actually a lot better than most of the overpriced NC versions of Cuban brands I've smoked. I plan on trying all of their blends when I'm back home up north and buying a bundle of whatever I like best to have around as give-aways for friends who don't usually smoke. That's not to say that I don't plan on smoking them myself too, because I am. :)

Re: Dos Hombres

Nice review as I smoked one of these just now. You nailed that sweetness. I was surprised that the sweetness lasted all the way through the cigar. I wish I knew what it was because it is not the sweetness I normally would associate with a Cameroon wrapper. Based on the look of the wrapper I'd say it were a connecticut or natural wrapper. While the cigar itself was not bad It just wasn't my cup of tea. I thought it pretty one dimesional since that sweetness, to me tended to steal the attention since it was so prevailent. I don't mind it just not through the whole cigar. But for some that is just what they desire. All in all while not bad, I left a good 4 inches in the tray, it bored me and I say that in the most positive way possible.

The finish on this was excellant I must admitt that. I can still taste the sweetness which seems out of place (again just to me), but I can tell now that this was also a very mild stick. I wouldn't call this medium bodied at all.

I beleive I got mine in a sampler so I'm not sure the cost but if it wasn't very expensive and I liked mild, sweet smokes it would be a winner.

If anyone knows what that sweetness is let me know. I suspect it is the wrapper as I've had that sweetness before and the wrapper matched this one. Once I identify that particular sweetness I'll avoid it as I just dont care for it personally.

Re: Dos Hombres

I am not looking to thread jack but we are on the topic of 2guys house brands...on the new catalog on the front it shows those "Ecuadorian handmades". Looks like they are Ecuadorian puros...anyone try one? Looks like a triple cap, how is the construction? Kinda pricey for an unknown.
