Do you guys think if I put a small bag of coffee in my humidor, the cigar would pick up the smell or taste over time?? lol I know sounds stupid but worth a shot since I love coffee flavors in my cigars.
Yeah, it you have a spare humidor to play with I don't see the harm in doing this. I pointed out in another post that some have done this with ground up coffee beans to help "cleanse" a smelly humidor. Unless you love the flavor of coffee in your cigars I wouldn't do this because tobacco will pick up odors pretty easily when it is with other cigars,,,imagine coffee beans inside your humi with cigars. From what I have read and talked to with others you only need about a 1/3 cup of grounds to do this. The fresher the grounds the better to transfer the smell and it takes about a month to really get that flavoring. Hope they like coffee really well.:eyebrows:I would not suggest you do this inside your regular humi. Get a small Gladware container and do it in there. That way your sticks you put into your humi don't catch the infusions.
I am still contimplating doing this myself but not sure on what mixture to use quite yet.
Try it out and post your progresses.
I agree with you, humis are for one thing only and that is for cigars and beads. Coffee grounds are an absorbant and are used to get rid of cigarette smoke and what some people do is take the grounds and put them in a paper coffee filter and tie string around it to keep the grounds from spilling,,,or just put the grounds in a receptacle. Tobacco will absorb the coffee and ironically when placing ground up coffee beans in the house it will take out the smell of the stale smoke. Ahhh the mystery of coffee.I wouldn't do it. I think that your humi would permanently smell like coffee after that and anything you put in there would pick that aroma up. Of course, if that's what you want ... give it a shot and report back.
My #1 rule with any of my humidors - nothing but cigars, beads, and distilled water see the inside.
