Its impossible to bluff others into folding on a low limit table. Think about it...
You're in 2/4 game sitting 3 down from the button with Ac-Ah. The flop came 7h-Kc-Ad with the turn card & river still to come. 7 guys left in the game including you & you're sitting with a "set" (aka trip's) & the best hand....for now. Its bet & called in front of you, nobody mucks their hand. You raise it on your turn. Do you actually think the guy with pocket Jacks and the other guy with 2 diamonds and a prayer for a backdoor flush are gonna fold for 2 or 4 more bucks? It aint gonna happen my friend.
In low stake games, the wager is low enough to where many folks will play a bad hand they should toss just on prayers the poker gods will smile on them this one hand. Thats what makes the lower stake tables harder to win at than the higher stake games.
An A-9 off suit are crap hole cards and will normally be tossed in a 8/16 or 10/20 game , but most everyone will play them in a low 1/2 or 2/4 limit game.
One of the most powerful tools in poker is bluffing. Remember, its the ultimate game of deception. When you take the ability to bluff out of the game, you have to just "hope" the cards are falling in your favor, and to "hope" in a poker game is a bad habit & will cost you dearly in the long run.
Sorry for the ramble LOL! Glad you got your feet wet & hope future chips fall towards your stack.
