Mac Baren Amphora original to replace the classic amber (they didn't have it)

From the site:
A well-rounded blend, emphasizing the chocolate flavor of burley tobacco.

Centuries of tobacco craftsmanship go into Amphora Original blend to bring out the rich chocolately undertones of the finest burley tobaccos, balanced with Orientals, Kentucky, and Virginia leaf. The result is a smooth textured and easy burning blend of rare distinction.

Nice sweet tobacco flavour I like it 👌🏻also, had a piece of dark chocolate with it, very nice

Well, so far my pipes are 50 for the Jean Claude starter kit, around 65 for the eden roc and 65 for this one sooooo I've seen pipes that cost more then all 3 off mine. 😂 Also, pipe Cottage on Youtube said in a Video I saw, tobacco is never going to get cheaper, only more expensive... That's another way to justify my spending 😜 but yeah, litterally going up in smoke

Nobody has ever been able to follow the advice to go slow, but you're doing an admirable job. You've picked up some nice pipes and tobacco and lived to tell the tale. I agree about tobacco: it's not getting cheaper. And you're right to buy one tin or pouch at a time and decide whether you like it before stocking up (which is not what I did alas 🤷‍♂️). If you're careful, you can get some good deals on excellent pipes by buying estates from reputable dealers. If they're anything like Smoking Pipes in the U.S., smokingpipes.eu would be a safe place to buy estates from. They give a very accurate description of the pipe's condition and accept returns that have not been smoked. You can also use their Pipe Locator feature to enter your preferences, including price.

Sooooooo I might have looked on Etsy today, there's a Ukrainian pipe maker who sells beautiful handmade pipes for very good prices. Very unique ones, because you know I don't have a churchwarden for reading yet 🤡 Artwoodmaster - Etsy I mean, they are absolutely stunning

Yeah the tobaccos are actually an issue, I'd like to buy the classic amber and edelman in bulk, but in The Netherlands there's no bulk sellers. Going to have to look in Germany or Belgium I think. If anyone knows a seller around here that'd be great.

I didn't know about that site yet, thank you very much! I found some really cheap estate pipes which I wasn't so sure about the quality off, good to have a reputable seller. I'm glad I have 3 completely different ones now, I got the cheap ones to figure out what floats my boat. The tapered straight pipes I like better to clench for example, but my Jean Claude is a bent one. I would have never known otherwise. Once I'm sure what I like I'll get a lifetime pipe. I also figured out the auctions on pipes go crazy pricewise, my god some limited editions are auctioned off for over a thousand euro's.

Thanks for the help in the maze that is cigars and pipes, you guys are great!🙏

Is that a problem? I read a lot of pipes that are made from pear wood and I assumed that's just another wood pipes are made from? Maybe I should research pipe woods before looking further

Ohhh i just opened up a can of worms xD I've done a quick Google search about pear wood pipes and found a thread on a Dutch pipe forum. There's a lot of people swearing by Briar pipes, then a lot of people saying they have a pear wood pipe and they're juet as good. Then there's people saying they smoke their pearwoods more then their brair because they are cheaper and it keeps their Briar pipes in good shape. I'll look up the details and differences tomorrow smoke wise and durability wise. Thanks for the head up!

Fruit woods like pear and apple are often made into pipes, that guy says they are made from "a local wood" , best staying with briar, costs more but you know what your getting.

I appreciate your worries and advise, I'm not looking to buy yet and I'm not trying to be stubborn, but he does specifically state in the product description they are pear wood pipes. If that turns out to be true, would that be good to smoke?

I don't have any expertise but I do know that reputable pipe makers do occasionally make pipes out of olive wood. I'm guessing the reason most pipes are briar is because it is more resistant to charring than fruit woods. If you like a pear wood pipe, however, go for it. It would probably take a long time to burn out anyway, perhaps never.

Well, only one way to find out! If I end up buying one I'll update you guys. I know corncobs burn out or need replacing more often maybe that's true for the fruit woods aswell.

Pulled the trigger on the royal yacht and got to say it is a very nice smoke. Not as strong as all the reviews would have you believe!

The other one is from Germany, very fruity/smokey, not too Sweet. I'm growing my tobacco stock, very happy with the variation and flavours.

Aldo Velani scarred pipe. My first 50+ g pipe. Good price at 34 euros, with a big discount. First smoke in a second walking the dog! Bought some rubber stem covers aswell, which I don't like that much because of the thick walls and short length, making them sharp on my lips. I dont think I'll use those.
