So in April i won a ten pack of RP Olde World Reserve Maduros , oh i couldnt wait till they got to my house, i opened up the box and there they were in all their dark glourious beauty. I let them rest but only for a bit , as i had plans for these bad boys,, me and a couple of buddies were going to the Royals game for of course pre game beer , cigars and hotdogs,, ah tail gating at its finest. these were going to go great with this, i took three along , to my dismay 2 of them were clogged tight,, like sucking concrete through a coffee straw, and the one that did light and draw well,,, well lets just say i thought it was one of the biggest let downs ever ,, it made me wish i would have brought the Swisher Sweets,, ok well maybe not that bad, but i didnt like it, a couple of weeks later i tried another,, i thought i had to be missing something ,, because these get really good reviews ,, tired another and yuck no way and again a little though to draw from,, i swore to myself i would never buy these again and had thoughts of giving the rest away to some not so close friends, but atlas today on a cloudy 80's yet very humid day in south east Kansas,,,after several moths of resting i reached my hand in the humi and pulled out another one of these ( they do look really good). my first thought i must addmit was to put it back and grab something else , but i figured heck might as well smoke em up, now im a big time nebiw but learning alot thanks to you guys, but i dont feel like i should ne reviewing cigars at this point, but let me just say that i am setting here about 2/3 the way through this big cigar a toro maybe i think and box pressed, im feeling a nice nic buzz, the first several minutes of the cigar i was about to trash it but it soon came to its own as i watched the kids run around the yard i kept puffing away and actually found myself really enjoying the taste, and it has sense kept getting better,, i guess i just had to hang in there ,, i guess the whole point of this ramble is now i see what you guys are saying about sometimes you got to let the cigars rest for awhile, it really made this one shine,, i think i have four left,, i hope they are all this good, (note: not my favorite but i did enjoy it) will i buy them again?? hmm maybe after some of the issues ive had with them i dont know, well maybe if i find them cheap enough,, and maybe something other then the toro size. im almost to the band now ,, this has been a really good cigar, in my experince with them this is the exception and not the norm sadly , but a good cigar and a good afternoon , im glad i gave it another try,,,

They have kind of fallen off the face of the earth lately, they used to be highly praised but it seems like theyve almost been eclipsed by other RP blends like the Decade. Personally I think they are probably Rockys best, they are absolutly delicious with some age and are very creamy. Great smokes.

Glad, you liked it, it's one of my favorites. Aging can have a huge impact on burn and flavor. Everyone's palate is different, so it's hard to go by "top" lists. I've found some cigars that others love to be vastly overrated in my opinion, but that's the beautiful thing with this hobby, it's so much fun trying new ones to find which you like.

I picked up a 5er of these in torpedo and a 5er in toro size back in May. I have tried one of each so far without much rest time and thought they were pretty good. I'm trying to let the rest sit for awhile and see what they taste like with a little more age on them.

Yeah i need to give the decades a try sadly i was kinda shying away from all things Rocky after the first couple of these ,, but i guess i should open up and give these a try? I know i have a buddy that really digs the R4's any word on these from anyone else ( i dont think these are at the top of the line Rocky's at all but he raves about em.

They are a very good cigar, given the right storage conditions. They didn't change the blend; its the same cigar. RP simply realized that it was not a $10.50 cigar and dropped the price.

Glad your re-visitation of them is pleasing.

In the future, be aware that punctuation, proper use of capitals and paragraph separation go a long way in making your posts more readable.

Just sayin'.

IMHO, RP are consistantly good cigars and great value for the dollar. There are very few that I don't like. OWR, Decade, 1992, Signature are amongst my faves. I bought a bundle of OWR about 18 months ago. They were pretty good right away, but now are excellent.

I noticed my local B&M other day had a box of these and was selling it for $8.90 for a single which I thought was strange because I remember reading reviews a while back where these were RP premiums, and assumed these would be alot more expensive and thought they were at least $10+ especially in NY.

I was tempted to pick it up, but I passed.
