Okay I've smoked everything possible under the sun and have read all the beginners tips posted in the stickys. But here's my thing: I live in Pakistan and the stores that generally carry pipes here know very little about them. My question to you more experienced puffers is how do I know what pipe I'm buying? Also if I'm planning on smoking regularly how many pipes should I be looking into? Most people I know who smoke a pipe in these parts usually own one that they use daily. Just wondering considering how the sticky says pipes should be rotated and rested.

Thanks for all the wisdom.

Most all pipe makers stamp their names and model on the bottom of the pipe. Im a big fan of Savinelli. great smokers. As for smoking a pipe multiple time per day I guess is a personal thing, If it still taste good go for it. Might ware the pipe out faster. And Ill bet if you ask these ppl who smoke a pipe multiple time per day, they will say the first smoke of the day is the best smoke of the day. Hope this answers your questions...Brian.

i'm assuming you're stationed there in one of the services-you may want to go w/cobs depending on conditions there, they're cheap enough they can be throwaway if ya want, plus they don't require the rest that briars do

if you're set on briar pipes, they only need rest for 24 hrs, so figure how many bowls ya smoke a day, that's how many pipes ya need-i know people that'll smoke one all day long, but then they let it rest a week instead

kaywoodie, comoy, GBD, savinelli, stanwell, peterson-it's hard to go wrong w/any of these-estate pipes (used) can be had cheaper, but you may have to clean them if they haven't been already

i don't know which etailers ship to paki, but i'm sure someone from the boards wouldn't mind-hit me up if ya want, we can make it happen-hope this helps

I'd have to second the cobs. Great cheap pipe. You can get a handful of them for the same price as a decent pipe. Also you should probably have at least two pipes if you're smoking everyday that way you can smoke one one day and the other the next. Just my :2

Thanks for all the input guys I was thinking of getting a few cobs but you don't get any here. From what I've seen at a few stores here the pipes are generally wooden not sure what company manufactures them but I guess I'll go back and take a look pay close attention to the stamps or marks on it to determine the manufacturer. Will post pics if I end up getting one.

Cheers.

Cheers bro! Sorry not posted here live here. Mark has sent a few packages my way but there are plenty available in the markets here I'd prefer to get it locally unless there's a huge price difference.

IMO a good pipe should be able to take an extra fluffy pipe cleaner in both the stem and the bore. I always have problems with anything if the airway isn't big enough.

Man I had a pipe that I got from my girlfriend's dad, and i ran a pipe cleaner through it and I kid you not, I pushed out a glob of nastiness that was about the size of a nickel.
