Well, I went into the cigar shop the other day during my lunch time, I usually pick up something quick to smoke, usually a Padron 2000 to have with a cup of coffee. One of the guys that worked there recommended a La Aroma de Cuba Corona.

size: 5.5 x 44
price paid: approx $4.00 after tax, i think?

I have to say I really love the band and box designs that this brand uses. Really cool looking artwork.

The wrapper of the cigar was not very smooth and slick, it looked actually a little rough, but I didn't want to be judge a book by its cover, and I had not bought it simply to stare at it, so...

So I sat down with a cup of coffee, clipped the end off with a cutter, and lit it up with a wooden match. It lit very easily, only had to use one match, and the initial light was even and burned very well. The first few puffs were an interesting flavor, don't quite know how to describe it, but different. (I am a Padron and Hoyo smoker mostly, and also smoke La Gloria Serie R's, and a few other favorites from the Punch and Fuente lines). So the flavor of this cigar was a slightly new experience with me, it had a very earthy taste, but was not heavy at all. It went quite well with my coffee. It looked as though the burn was running a little about halfway through, but it corrected itself quite nicely, and I didn't have to reflame it at all. Towards the end, the smoke got just a little bit harsh, so I didn't push it. I put it out. The aftertaste was nice, not at all overpowering, with a slightly salty taste that was interesting in its own way.

It did seem to burn slightly hot, I will say as a postscript.

I would buy a few singles of this particular smoke to keep around I think, don't know if I would drop the money on a box, however. Overall it was a pleasant smoking experience, nothing out of the ordinary, but a decent smoke.

Nice review, thank you. I have one of these sitting in the humi that was gifted to me by a generous gorilla, and you have inspired me to fire it up later this week.

These are a nice change of pace, and generally a good enjoyable smoke. I, too, find they get a bit harsh at the end. Almost all of the La Aromas that I have smoked don't like to go passed the band. They also like to be smoked a bit on the dry side. If I store them much over 70% they start to plug. My local tobbacco dealer has found the same thing. Since I have dropped the humidity to the mid 60's, I have not found another plugged La Aroma.

BTW - about the prettiest cigar out there.

Good review! I have had about the same experience with the Corona Minor. I like it because it is a quick smoke. Your review summed it up exactly. If you are looking for a quicker smoke in this profile, you should give the corona minor size a shot.

Nice. I tried a few of petite coronas myself based on some good reviews but I found the whole thing to be harsh. I did smoke pretty quick after I got em so maybe that is why. Should these age longer in a humidor to help with harshness?

JCFan...thanks for inspiring me! I pulled out the LADC that hollywood had generously gifted me last month, and was happily suprised at what a nice smoke it was. I somehow had the mistaken impression that La Aroma de Cuba was a harsher smoke with straightforward tobacco flavor. In fact, it was a medium bodied smoke with some nice nutty and even coffee tones. After smoking it, I got on-line and ordered 10 to age in the humi. Definitely a nice suprise, thanks for your review which got me off my arse to try it out.
