I will preface this with saying that I am a HUGE AJ Fernandez fan. I love the Diesel, La Herencia De Cuba Osuro, and much more. That being said, I do not like Man O' War...and until today the Ruination blends.

I sat down today with a Ruination, that had been sitting in my humi now for about 9 months...and I was blown away. The first one I smoked didn't have much time on her and it was bitter and overpowering. This one was smooth, very full and almost sweet. Best Cigar I have smoked in a while to be honest.

While I still dislike the Man O' War, if the other 10 Ruinations I have in my humi smoke like this one, I will be a happy camper.

With 10 left in the box, you must have been ready for disappointment. Don't you love happy surprises.
I've only smoked one MOW, and it was so unenjoyable to my palate, I've never looked back. With how many folks sing praises here--especially of the Ruination, I will at least give that one a try.

Thanks for sharing.

I personally LOVE the MOW, and have a few Ruinations in my humi that I am saving for the right time...Agreed, anything by AJ is great, but I dont think he blends the Ruination, only the MOW?? I am prolly wrong about that one!!

I had a Ruination and loved it. Loved it so much I bought a box. After smoking two or three I decided I didn't like them as much as I remembered, and gave 75% of the box away. Luckily a lot of people do like them, so they were good for trades, bombs, and puff poker payments.

Ruination is my favorite, so much flavor, very smooth yet very powerful, clouds of smoke, flawless construction, the wrapper is gorgeous. Whats not to love?

FWIW, you might want to give the MoW Special Edition Figurado a try. Same wrapper as the Ruination. . . but a milder smoke and a fantastic looking stick. Just something to consider; I absolutely LOVE them.

AJ Blends all of the MoW cigars, including the Ruination and Virtue. He also blends Diesel and 5 Vegas 'A' and 'AAA' cigars.

This was my first introduction to the MoW cigars, and it is a wonderful smoke.

The MOW Ruination was one of the handful of smokes that renewed my passion for this lifestyle. I smoked my first one driving around in my truck in -10 degree weather and for me to enjoy any cigar in that environment is truly something. I just ordered a couple of more samplers to include the regular MOW, the Special Edition and the Virtue along with the Ruination.

I will let you all know what I find out after I start tearing through them.

Hmm... Interesting! I haven't had one and my local B&M doesn't carry them, so I wasn't sure about them but this thread really has me wanting to try one out now. I love threads on here that peak my interest in a cigar I have yet to try :tu

Smoking my first MOW right now from the AJ Dirty Dozen sampler I recently got. I usually smoke one cigar each evening and lately I have had a real desire for strong, robust Nic's. Fits the Bill!

Great taste, medium/ full, choc, earth, spice and a hint of caramel. Surprisingly smooth and less powerful than I expected.

Good smoke in my books

I thought the original MOW's were ok but never got a lot of flavor out of them. The first Ruination I had was a Robusto #1 and it was amazing. Tons of flavor and smooth as can with a nice, satisfying, but kind of sneaky strength.

This led to a box purchase of the Belicosos. At first I was disappointed as they were not as good as the Robusto that I had. Since then they have been steadily getting better and now are fantastic after just a few months in the humidor.

I agree that this cigar in particular gets better with age. I smoked one within a month of receiving it from a brother of the leaf and found it to be unappealing and kind of harsh. I was told by another it changes character within 8 months to a year so I let the 2 sit and pulled one out after 9 mlnths. Wow...he was right and this is a very good cigar...so good in fact I bought another 5 pak of these. Just have to wait another 6 months before smoking them.

( Incidentally...I will put info on the cigar band as to when this matures so I don't accidentally pull it out and smoke it before its time. Old age is a bitch so putting memos on my stuff saves me aggravation )

I picked up a box of double corona MOW's on cbid some months ago. Like always, when ever I get in some new smokes, lit one up right away. I was SO disappointed. Even though I got a good price on them, I couldn't believe I spent so much for such a poor cigar.

Stashed 'em away in the coolidor.

About a month later I lit up another one...

...what a difference! Made me a believer in letting a cigar "rest". And they just keep getting better with time!

Looking forward to trying a Ruination. Just gotta catch some on sale! :)
