i know i should post this to the habanos forum, but i figured i'd get a quicker and better response here since i'm leaving so soon.

Heading up to Niagara Falls tomorrow with my girlfriend to do some sightseeing. I was wondering if somebody could give me a list of good cuban brands and sizes to look out for. If you point me in the right direction, there might be a few cigars in your mailbox when i get back.

i don't recall any shops in niagara falls, but that doesn't mean there aren't... check the internet. in canada, you can find decent smaller smokes (pcs and so on with almost no age) for about $16-$20... just try things you haven't tried before. if you're bringing some back be warned.. you will most likely be asked if you purchased alcohol or tobacco- you better be a good liar. some advice from george costanza- it's not a lie if you don't think it's a lie. ;) have fun.

i've noticed since the tobacco tax in canada is so high, so are the cigar prices. $20 for a petit corona is outrageous. i'm sure i'll buy 1 or so, but i'll stick to the cheaper ones if possible...LOL

Sky,

Im from Buffalo, NY and Im over on the Canadian side of the falls very often because of the casino there. If you head to Clifton Hill (anyone in NF will know where it is) there are a couple cigar shops there with a decent selection. The prices are high though, so you may want to check out some places farther north. Another place is Niagara on the Lake. Some great restaurants, a great smoke shop if I remember correctly, and your girlfriend will love the shopping. I took mine up there last year. Ill check with some guys from home and see what else I can come up with. Cubans are everywhere up there...most legit, but the problem is the price. As I said, Ill get back to you with better info.

Make a note...
All unbanded cigars found by the customs (border guys) will be considered to be cuban origion - automatically..
the good news is they normally turn you back and say dont come back through here with those.
Or on the downside...
they take um away and say naughty naughty...:(

Prices in Canada are outragous, as others have mentioned

Good luck..

if you are pulled over be cooperative. i was pulled over for a la gloria in the car. the customs agent inside never even looked at it. he just asked if i knew it was illegal to bring cubans in, i said yes, and was on my way. i guess they have more important things to worry about these days
