Hello friends, puff noob here, but very sincere. I would like to ask your excellent opinion on getting the 400/500 "foot locker" humi (you all know the one) sporting the hydra SM humidifier (is it a good model, better than oasis?), I was also going to opt for a pair of extra fans to put (where, high low, opposing walls?). Overkill / just right? Yay nay? Expand. Thanks.

First off, I MOVED this to Accessory Questions.

Secondly, you should really think long and hard about what you really want to do with a humidor. The "footlocker" style humidors are good for storing several boxes (in-the-box) and a small number of singles. The idea of putting 10 layers of loose cigars in the bottom of one of those things is NOT a good one.

Thirdly, it will not hold anywhere NEAR the stick count advertised, unless you're exclusively into Petit Corona.

Fourthly, I patently DO NOT like any of the consumer-grade electronic humidification devices and particularly do not like active humidification for "desk top" type humidors. In large cabinets, I think they're the way to go. For desk tops, I think beads to be the better solution.
