...or can they?
I make a ~90 mile trek to my parents' house a couple of times a month to visit. I've been doing this for approximately 15 years...so you can imagine how boring that hour-and-a-half drive has become. A cigar in my hand certainly helps relieve the boredom of the trip...but these "driving" cigars are more or less just something to stick in my mouth and play with with my hands. Sure, I smoke them, but I'm not really "in" the experience. Hence, the search for a cheapo, not terribly disgusting cigar for the road.
My requirements are simple -
1) CHEAP - smoking a pricey cigar while driving would be a total waste, IMO
2) BIG - I prefer Toros as a rule, but I'd like something to fill up the entire hour-and-a-half trip. So I'm looking for a Churchill
3) Not gross. I'm not looking for something with subtle nuances, I'm not looking for anything complex, just something that is somewhat pleasant on the palate. Actually, it doesn't even have to taste very good, as long as it doesn't taste too bad LOL.
CI's "Unsmokeables" have intrigued me ever since they first caught my eye. What a fantastic marketing tactic! The descriptions are full of such statements as, "mellow, smooth, and not vomit-inducing;" "not half bad...not half good, either;" "a questionable brand complemented by a dubious blend;" you get the idea. A bundle of 20 churchills for $20. How bad can they be? Let's find out!
I am, at heart, a cheap bastage. I admit it, I acknowledge it. 20 churchills for $20, however, is NOT cheap if I smoke only one and throw away 19. So I was definitely hesitant to buy them...until I noticed that 5 packs are available on C-Bid. YES! A 5 pack each of Hesitant Pirates, Dark Sharks, and Avocado Limited Reserves has been resting in my humi for a little over a month. This morning, I noticed that I'm fresh out of usual "driving" cigar, a Quorum churchill.
So....let's see just how bad the Unsmokeables are.
