I've ordered from both and haven't noticed a quality difference between the two.

They're both coming from the same warehouse, and in both cases you need to let them rest for at least a week.

 

I've had some wierd cigars from CBID, but after some rest, they were great. I don't order much from CI because it's all cheaper on CBID.

However, I now try to only order boxes off of CBID, which seems to keep them in much better shape.

I've never noticed a difference between the two, if you think CBID is some throw away site for CI you are dead wrong.

It's like anything in this world, a coke costs $1.75 at gas station, $1.50 in machine, you can get 6 for $2.50 at the grocery store, all while a single bottle costs probably less then a nickle. The cigar that sells for $12 at your B&M, costs $8 on CI, 5 for $15 on CBID, all while the thing probably costs less then a buck. As long as it's selling, they are making money.

If they can sell the same thing for two different prices, and it allows them to sell more and make more $$$, then their system works.

I absolutely agree with this. CBid is just another outlet for CI. I don't think there's a difference in the product. I've had nothing but great luck in the few auctions I've won so far. Everything I buy online goes in the humidor for at least a week or two before I even think about lighting up so it's not an issue.

 

I've never noticed a difference, but lately I've been using cigar monster and ci's daily deal (and Joe's jam), as opposed to cbid. I've found deals just as good and it did not lead me to pick up a bunch more due to the shipping savings on cbid. when you win multiple auctions. As far as letting them rest, I give a minimum of two weeks, but it usually ends up to be about 2 months or so.

 

Everything looks good from Cbid. Its packaged well and goes straight to Humidor for a rest.

 

I don't think Eric is wrong or has voices in his head... but I haven't experienced what he has. I also freeze everything, so my main concern is wrapper damage.

 

With one very small exception I've had nothing but good luck on Cbid. Same goes for CI. Plus, the one time I did have an issue it was resolved very promptly.

 

maybe its just the five packs (im new to cigars so i dont wanna buy any large packs or boxes yet, i wanna get out there and try new ones) but from what i compared what you can get on cbid to CI or JR cigars..there normally isnt much of a difference in price if you add in the shipping, it comes to one to three dollars cheaper..i may be completely wrong but of the few i was interested in getting i found out werent that cheap such as the CAO gold and CAO italia. is it mainly a good place to buy boxes? is this why cbid is so popular? cause i like romeo y julieta and i saw a box of 27 i think it was on there for a pretty good price. but the 5 packs not so much

 

I'm new to this too but I can tell you that cbid is a great place to pick up boxes. Less so for 5vers and then even less so for singles. Occasionally, you'll pick up a great deal if you catch it right. But I think the real savings is in boxes. I typically only bid up to what amounts to 30% off of the cheapest price I can find online (shipping excluded). I set it to autobid. If I win, awesome. If not, there will always be more. The trick is research before you bid. I've seen people bid higher than they could get it from CI directly. :noidea:

since im a "newb" what cigars would you consider to be decent mild cigar and regularly stocked at CI?

yeah this is what i figured, i just didnt want to jump into buyin boxes yet until ive tried a couple of different cigars and determined what my favorites are. but that is a great suggestion to use the autobid and set it at 30% lower, i will deff be doing that once i start to purchase boxes

People kill me so fast to defend their fav site and not really listening to what I'm really saying.This is not a cbid bashing thread .I shop cbid all the time .I know I have spent over a grand this month at cbid.This thread is more about people giving reviews with cigars from CBid.I don't know if it's the cello of the 5packs.I do know that the cigars come dry and need of rest. And CI the cigars come almost wet and need to be dried out .If you store your cigars at the right RH a large number of cigars don't need rest. One of the good things about shopping at a good B&M.Some times I come off snappy ,this is not my intent.I can see if you only get a 5er or a box here or there you wouldn't notice a diff. No need to defend CBid just let your cigars rest before giving a review.

I don't consider receiving my cigars at an RH that is undesirable but still acceptable enough to store in humidor and then write fair review to be of a lower quality or dud. To be honest, most cigars I receive from CBID are wet.

If you think that defines a dud then I would suggest never using CBID again, because you are getting ripped off even at the lower prices. What happens if you are buying RP or Sol Cubano 2nds? Are you buying lower quality cigars, that start off as seconds?

The language is what offends people, you're basically saying that a site very popular among members is selling them some of their favorite cigars 2nd hand, and not telling them.

I know what you are saying. I have a bid in process from cbid that I won last night. I will pay attention to the shape they are in when I get them and compare to what you have said. I have received sticks from them before and did not notice, but I do let them rest before I smoke them. I will keep you posted.

when a cigar is dried out it takes more care to get them back.So the chance of you getting a cigar that has a hot burn or a bad draw is increased(DUD).I love Cbid and never told anyone not to shop there.but I have had more problems with cigars coming from their site,than all the other sites combined.You get what you pay for.Maybe that's not fair because of my high traffic with the site.But it is what it is
