So Nov. 1st I'll be driving through Portland towards Lincoln City for my honeymoon and was thinking about getting a new pipe to celebrate the trip. For those in the area in the know, is there any particular shops that I should stop at and browse their stock? I've done a quick google and found 82nd Tobacco & Pipe and from their website it looks like they might be a possibility. Any opinions on that establishment or a recommendation on an alternative? Thanks folks!

82nd is "my shop" if I had to designate one locally. Couple of pipers on the staff and a reasonable assortment of Pete's, Savs, and assorted ones or twos of other manufacturers. Pricing is about what you'd expect in a B & M. Decent tin selection, don't forget to look up high above the back counter for the peanut can styles. I've bought three briars here, and each time they humored me absolutely, velvet trays and bringing pipes out of the back room that had not made the display case yet.

The only other one in PDX that leaps to mind is Rich's, but they are a little pricey and less convenient to hit off the freeway.

Most importantly, congratulations! Enjoy the honeymoon, the Oregon coast in October is for looking at from inside in front of a fire. Are you staying at the casino?

Awesome John! That's the kind of info I was hoping to get. Sounds like my quick search pointed me to the right place. Their site mentioned they had a few meers, and I have yet to get one, so this might be the perfect time for that.

As for the coast, I love Lincoln City, so laid back and an easy place to have a relaxed good time in. I've never been there outside of the summer months in the decade or so I've been going there, so I'm looking forward to possibly getting a good storm in while we're there. But no, we aren't staying at the casino. We will be staying at the Coho this time. My family usually rents a house on the beach up towards the north end, about a block from the Road's End park. But since it's just the two of us, we decided to try out a new place.
