Hello all, one of my daughters gave me a 5 pack of Ashtons for Christmas. She, not knowing my taste in cigars, relied on the expertise of her local smoke shop owner. I guess he was playing it safe. Just finished the last, a VSG cabinet torpedo. Sad to say it was as unmemorable as it's previous 4 brethren in the 5 pack. Smoked less than a third of it and then let it die in the ashtray. Left a remarkably funky taste in my mouth for what I consider a very mildly flavored cigar. The only one of the group that was even marginally smokeable was a Maduro. Oh well, her heart was in the right place. Frank B

VSG cabinet? I don't think there is such a cigar...

They have a cabinet selection torpedo and a VSG torpedo. I have tried a couple of the regular Ashton's (898) and cabinet selection. I recall they were a quality cigar, but not one I need to try again.

I do like the VSGs. I have bought a number of singles and a box of the Enchantments (small perfectos). I like a sun-grown wrapper, and these cigars are a good example. There is definitely a 'funk' to them, if you mean a unique tangy taste.

To each his own - for me, I like the VSGs.

Never smoked an Ashton, but as that is my daughters name I have several empty boxes my father sent me for her. I will have to give them a try as I am on a quest to smoke one of every Cigar (minus the cheap flavored ones) in my smoke shops humidor! Now I will be aproaching the Ashton line with a little trepidation. Oh well all good quests are frought with danger and tribulation.

Smoke Out!

i've personally never had one. our local shop must covet them. no way i'm paying upside of $10 for a non-cuban.

my buddy has had a few, said they were damn good. i'd like to try some though, just not at my local shops prices.

The VSG does have "cabinet" on the label above Virgin Sun Grown, but it is not to be confused with the Ashton Cabinet line. The VSG is a powerful complex cigar and is one of my favorites:) . The "Cabinet" line is also very good for a mild-medium cigar. In my parts a VSG is $15.00 each:mad: , wish i could get them for $10.00:rolleyes: .

I have bought a few Ashton Churchills at the local casino and paid only $5.75. I really liked the cigar which is somewhat on the mild side and am thinking of buying a box ..

Frank B,

Go with Padron Anniv. Maduro. Same price as VSG's, but without the funky taste.

You will be all smiles !! They are like Lays, you can't stop with only one !
