tar

  1. General Cigar Discussion
I know all tobacco has tar but I've noticed it most and almost always in Fuente products, I still enjoy them but I definitely get it in almost every Fuente I smoke and tend to have to make a second cut to get rid of it. Maybe it's heavier in Dominican tobacco. Anyone else notice this?

So I purchased a 5'er of these in february and have been letting them sit until recently. I've given 2 away, and I smoked the second one last night (shuckin's if your stick tars up, I appologize). Both of the ones that I've smoked have had some serious tar issues. I was happily puffing away...

Hi guys, something has been on my mind for a few days..... Last Monday I was smoking my first MOW Virtue and an inch into I tastes something really bad on my tongue. I looked at the end only to see dark oozing stuff coming out at three places. How common is this and how can I make it go away...

I need some education. I was smoking a San Juan last night and noticed a very bitter taste on the tip of my tongue. There was quite a bit of tar forming on the end of the stick. In my 4 years of smoking, this is a first for me. Now Was it just the stick? Does it have something to do with the...
  5. Habanos Discussion
About a month ago I purchased a 5er of custom rolled cigars from my vendor. I smoked one ROTT and it was very good. I let the others rest in my humidor. I smoked one saturday, and I saw something I've never seen before. About 15 minutes into the cigar I started seeing a brown liquid come out...

Does burning cigars in the (very) cold weather create more tar? I've noticed that a lot of cigars I smoke ouside lately tend to produce much more brown tar juice, which I have to wipe off every few puffs or it will drip on my tongue. These same cigars smoke fine in a car or indoors, so I...

I'm a new cigar smoker. Been smoking cigarettes for about 16 years and I am having some new issues. For the first month I was able to smoke my cigars just fine. Recently I had purchased a humidor and my first batch of smoke from CI. Also I had watched some videos on how to cut a cigar correctly...

So i tried my first Tatuaje yesterday, since i keep hearing so many good things about them. I believe it was the Miami, Regios size. It had a decent rest in the humi before i smoked it (about 2 weeks). It's a beautiful looking cigar. I did however have a few issues that ruined my smoking...

Heya, Was trying out my new Natural Twig (cigarillo's) by Drew Estate. They were pretty good. Just near the last part it was kind of hard to draw, had a sort of sappy tar build up. Got on my fingers and was sort of browny orange. Is this normal?

I have recently noticed that some of the cigars that I have been smoking will accumulate a small amount of gooey substance that I am guessing is tar at the head after about half way through. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have my humi set at 70%. Any ideas?

Tonight, I lit up a Don Pepin Garcia Black Label (Cuban Classic) lancero and it immediately started spewing tar out the end (yuck!). Now that happens once in a while, but this was kinda to the extreme. My cigars are usually on the dry end of the scale...does that make tar worse? Is there...

Grettings fellow pipesters! I have been noticing something very strange lately,if I smoke any McClelland virginias thru the day,my pipes will start to clog up in the stems, when I run a pipe cleaner thru the stems, they come out with a bunch of gunk,if I smoke them for a few days,I ultimately have...

Decided to smoke an very young Monte Edmundo today while doing some yardwork (the weather has been fairly nice recently). As you can see below I punched it, which is now my chosen method. Also, you can see the massive accumulation of tar from the smoke. This was about an inch into it, and yes...

Does anyone know what the relationship is between the age of a cigar and the amount of tar it produces? I recently had a Don Pepin black label which I cut using a punch and at the end of that great smoke about a third of the hole was black with tar. On another day, I smoked a Romeo y Julieta...
