Recently picked up 3 bags of coffee from Wade at Sunbury coffee roasters, and was delighted with the service and taste/flavor. We ordered Kenyan, Ethiopian - Yirgacheffe, and Sunrise Blend in bean form. Both the Kenyan, and the Yirgacheffe were outstanding, and just opened the Morning Blend...

This new MooB'Q grill roaster is confusing me. I'll need to roast many pounds to get the hang of it. Whoever provides me with two pounds of experimental green beans will allow me to roast them, exercise the new burrset in the MazzerMini, package and ship it to our new friends (thru...

As most of you know, when you roast a pound of coffee, your net yield is about 10%-15% less because of moisture that is squeezed out during the roasting process. So....let's look at 15% loss and calculate your costs. First, add 15% to your price (multiply the cost per pound by 1.15) to get...

Hello roasters at CS, of whom there are now many. It is now up for discussion to see if there is interest in many of us running the same bean at the same time. I don't envision a competition or even a pass (unless folks really want some kind of pass - face it, it's harder to pass beans than...

Well, in my case, not too local. I never miss a chance to visit and hang with the best of the best coffee roasters when I travel, whether it is coffee related or not. In some cases, facilities offer public tours, some don't. Do your homework first. Here's who I've visited so far this year...

Is roasting your own coffee sort of like making your own cigars? Or is home roasted coffee actually better than what the pros can put out? I'm really big on coffee but am a bit of a skeptic as to how good it could be if I roasted it myself.

My wife picked up a bag of the Joe's Kona at TJ Maxx of all places. If you are still in the 20th century and make straight up coffee from a Mr. Coffee dripp machine, then I highly recommend this stuff. Very good coffee and pretty cheap also. They have a web site but don't remember at this time.

There's no real guide for new roaster ladies and gents, which is what this forum seems to be attracting. In general new roaster guys buy this and that and run willy nilly. It's OK to run willy-nilly (I run willy-nilly a lot) but the extra turns and blind alleys slow you down on your way to...

Considering how much I drink, let alone my family, I think I'm going to need one of those RK Drums. Assuming I can affix this thing to my grill (which is not a rotisserie model), will I have to clean my grill before and after every use? We use the thing quite a bit during the summer (hell even...

I started roasting coffee last summer when I bought a FreshroastPlus. Buying my own roaster was one of the best decisions that I've ever made. But now I think it's time to move up a notch. Although the FreshRoast has done a good job, I want a roaster that I can tweak a little more and have more...
