I'm in the process of building my pipe tobacco cellar up, here it is Jay29's Online Tobacco Cellar, with a just ordered 8 ounces of Kajun Kake on the way.
Would any of you recommend opening the vacuum sealed tins up to put in mason jars for aging? If so, do you seal using the hot water water...
I tried my hand at storing some baccy in mason jars. One of the questions I have is should I always try and vacuum seal them using the boiling water technique or, can I just screw the lids on when I dump the baccy in them.
Thanks!

So I've got a question or two for some of you who have superior knowledge when it comes to aging/storing pipe tobacco.
I have accumulated some Tins of tobacco, which are still factory sealed. Of course, I also have Tins that have been opened, that I'm currently enjoying.
The open Tins...
Ok I'm in a huge pinch at the moment. I am totally out of humi space and have about 20 cigars that are coming out of the fridge and freezer tom. I am wondering if anyone has used a mason jar as a humi for a short time? Thanks for the replies.
When we got home today my wife went to check the mailbox. Before she could open the door to the mailbox Mason started barking at it. Mason is a highly trained bomb sniffing, 6 year old, 170 lb Great Dane. WTF she thought? So she opened the door and saw a box. After checking for bewbie traps...
Ello gents,
A while back I recall seeing a link to amazon that featured these small 2oz wide mouth mason jars. They were real short and wide. I want to buy some now but I cannot find the link. I searched the site forums, google, amazon, etc and still have not found what I am looking for...
I recently got an exelent NPS sampler form Indigosmoke and want to buy some mason jars to store the baccy in until I smoke it all up. Aterwards I am sure I will be placing some orders to replace and will want to use said mason jars again.
I searched "mason jars" and found scores of references...
So I was surfing the web and found these vac-n-stash containers. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these. I use mason jars now but these looks cooler...
:hurt:
I only have 26 posts so I can post a link but just google Vac-n-stash and you will see them.
Good Evening folks.
Well, I have run out of Mason jars.. :der:
24 of the pints sized screw tops with varying tobaccos in each one.
Most pretty full, some.. just a few flakes..
A few thoughts and questions came to mind as I "cellared" even a few more baggies and tins I got today and...
After looking up old threads and doing some searching online I found a good way to vacuum seal up Mason jars for next to nothing.
I have a Ziploc hand vacuum pump that I got at Wal-Mart a while back for under $4 for the pump and a set of bags. If you poke a hole in the top of a Mason jar lid...
I tried washing the jars in the dishwasher and hand washing the lids but there is still quite a bit of smell in there from the tobacco that I used to have in them. I want to store some others with out them being tainted, what can i do to get the old smell out.
Cheers
Okay,
A buddy of mine a while ago suggested that I wax seal my cellared mason jars that I don't plan on opening for a long, long time as kind of a "just in case" measure.
Haven't done it yet but I'm considering it. My question is, if I do this then how do I mark what's in the jars? Right...

Wifey brought home something interesting.
A mini mason jar with the wire clasp/rubber stopper. She filled it with nutmeg before I could get my hands on it - she calculated it holds about a couple of oz. I think it will hold a normal sized flake lengthwise, the current occupant (nutmeg) has...
I often drive by the George Washington Masonic Memorial. Today I hit the light at the intersection right by the entrance when the landscaping caught my eye. I did a double take and then started laughing. I wonder how many people know what they are looking at - and this is the display right by...

Well after my father and his father and his father.................I am finally a Master Mason. I have been wanting to join for years and finally was "invited". I was one of the lucky ones who can go through the "easy" way. I know there have to be a few Masons out there. Lets see a show of...
