Ok, I found some Illusione Mks yesterday at a B&M I have never heen to before so I picked some up. Generally most of the B&Ms around here store their sticks high so they dont smoke goood right away. Normally its ok I just put them in the humi and let em sit for a few weeks and everythings fine...

I have been reading a lot of about people dryboxing their cigars just before smoking ... and I have to say, I am not familiar with that. So once again I am turning to my knowlegable and helpfull brother puffers for information ... What is the purpose of it? What are the benifits? What are...

Hi guys, I've been fairly active on the other side of the forums, but early on in my cigar experience, one of the lovely members on here let me try a few of the famous smokes from "the forbidden island." Fast forward a year and a half. I've smoked a few of those sticks that were so kindly...

I did a search on dry-boxing, but so many threads came up and none in the couple of pages I looked at, so if these questions are redundant I apoligize and please redirect me to apprpriate thread. So, I, like many others here from the looks of it, like to keep my gars between 63-69 RH, and do...

I guess I could Google it, but I wanted to get an answer straight from the best source -- puff.com! Thanks.

If you drybox and the ambient RH is above what you run in your humi, is that really dryboxing? Seems like your drybox would just capture the humid air and, instead of your beads or whatever removing the humidity, the cigars would try to do it. Just wondering if there might be a major caveat...

My house has been soo bloody humid this summer that I've been unable to drybox a single cigar. It just doesnt work. So what are other methods I can use to dry out a cigar?

Hi all, First of all, I love you guys. This is probably the most helpful forum I've ever been on. Anyway, I've read most of the threads here on dryboxing. The general consensus seems to be to keep the cigar an unhumidified humi for ~1-3 days prior to smoking. Does anyone know of or...

Did a search, and couldnt find an answer to my question. I see a lot of you "drybox" your cigars for a bit, before you smoke them. When you say drybox, exactly what are you doing? Are you putting them into a humi, that is purposfully kept at a low rh and if so how do you maintain this...

I have a box of PLPC's that are on the bottom of my cabinet, close to the humidifier. Had my first one last night in a while, they're from Jun '07. Found it acrid and unpleasant from the halfway point on. Took another out, dryboxed it for 12 hours and tried again. It was much better. Curious...

When I get new cigars, I usually put them in an empty, non-humidified cigar box. I fill the box about half full, and allow the sticks to "breathe" for 3-4 days in there, then I move them to the regular humis. I got this idea somewhere on the Internet; Can't remember where. Do any of you...
  12. Cigar Accessory Questions
Hi guys, I see that some people use a method called "dry boxing" for preparing their wetter cigars for smoking... I have done some forum-searching to better explain this term but was not successful - can some one please explain what RH% dryboxing should be done at and also how to control that...

Probably dumb question. In anticipation for my birthday this Friday, I am thinking of dryboxing a Cohiba Esplendido gifted to me from my younger brother in New Jersey a while ago. He had an impressive humidor for years before he gave up the hobby and figures he had it resting a few years...

I have been experimenting with dry-boxing so I figured I'd post a poll For all you who dry-box, lets see what you do. Right now I usually drybox overnight but am leaning towards going for some 60% beads. For people who do use 60% beads, how long do you leave them at 60%?

So I've started dry-boxing my cigars before smoking. My two humis are 65% and 70% and I've realized I like to smoke my cigars a little drier than that. I was wondering if anybody else dry-boxes before smoking and if so, how long? Right now I will sit them out in a box for 3-4 hours before...
