The many faces of Zacapa Centenario A lot has been said about this wonderful Guatemalan rum. These are its different versions. All them worth a try. Your basic Zacapa is the 15 year. Even by rum standards, aging fit or 15 years is already an exception. Still a little rough around the edges...

When I opened my humidor tonight to pick a cigar, I noticed some flower o none of them, and to avoid further contamination I decided to smoke that particular cigar rightaway. It was the Cuesta-Rey Centenario No. 5 Maduro, a 139mm long 53 ring size cigar from the Dominican republic with a sun...

I normally stay away from ring sizes larger than 52, but I picked up 10 of these at an auction and am darn glad I made an exception in this case. This mazo of 10 had been in the humidor for a couple of months when I fired one up this AM. Many days I won't have a cigar in the morning, but I...

Well I was in the mood for a slightly stronger cigar this evening (eyeing the RP Sun grown) but my girlfriend wanted a few puffs from the smoke. So after some rummaging in the table-top (which is by the way getting kind of full) I found the Cuesta Rey. Looked at the wrapper and took a whiff...

I got some Cuesta-Rey Centro Fino Sungrown cigars and a shirt for joining the JC Newman cigar club which piqued my interest...

This was a really nice smoke. Maduro wrapper was on the light side. Draw was quite loose, but produced plenty of smoke. Flavor was very sweet, almost like a sugared wrapper, but in a pleasant, refined sort of way, not a swisher-sweets sort of way. Flavor was a little dry and woodsy. Very tasty.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Mar-23-02 AT 09:24 PM (CDT)]I picked up a sampler of the Cuesta-Rey Centenario Collection and stuck them in the humidor about a month ago. Tonight I tried the Pyramid No. 9. The taste was great, as can be expected from Cuesta-Rey products. It was a medium strength smoke...
