  1. Cigar Accessory Discussion
For too long, I've been adhering to the 70/70 'rule' for my humidors. From the owner at my favorite B&M to general knowledge obtained from fellow BOTL, this seemed the way to go. However, since joining PUFF, you all have opened my eyes to the joys of lower RH. Following your advice, I pulled...
  2. Cigar Questions
Hey guys, I know when you break it down it basically comes down to personal preference but I was just wondering exactly how much of a difference storing cigars at 65% are than to 70% RH? Also, even smaller, what about 68% RH compared to 65% or 70%. Is there really THAT much of a difference? Let...

So I bought a new 100ct humidor a few days ago. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and just today I put an Xikar 100 humidifier in there. I calibrated my Xikar hygrometer for about 6 hours doing the salt test, and I checked it tonight - it's at 70% and 68 degrees. The temperature matches the...

Like the title says, I bought a Craftsman's Bench Ponce De Leon abd it is at 70% new. I did a salt test on the meter and adjusted it to the correct reading then let it sit in the humi for a day to make sure....I live in Florida so I don't know if that may be doing something. (indoor humidity in...

  7. General Cigar Discussion
I have noticed that it seems many people on here store there cigars below 70%.......around 63-67 it seems. Is there any reason why I should not store at 70%?? The only cigars that are real soft are the oliva G maduro's that I have a few off....but they had a tight draw anyway.

So I am making a temp storage "tupperdor" so I went out and bought a 70% Xikar gel cup. well I put it in and its reading 85%....My Hygrometer is 100% calibrated and I know its accurate. Could it be the tupperdor is too small for the little cup of gel? It was pre charged when i got it so i...

I just bout some heartfelt beads after everything I have read. I switched from floral foam in one humidor and a humi care gel humidifier in another. Put the beads in about a week ago and initially the humidor was at a perfect 70%. Now it has dropped one percent a day about and is at 65%. I don't...

What do you guys think of my idea to replace the green foam in my Hydra SM with 70% RH silica gel and then put one pound of 65% RH beads in my medium sized cabinet humidor (2 cubic feet with 4 shelves)? I will place 4-6 oz of beads on each of the upper 3 shelves of the humidor. I will place...

Going to be seasoning a 300 ct. humidor this weekend and wanted to know which Hf beads are best. I have read that for "storage" 65% is optimal, but for "aging" 70% is where it's at. I don't intentionally age cigars, it just happens sometimes I guess. Does area temp. fluctuation have...

So I have this really nice humi made by Prometheus and it has the funny humidification device that keeps it at 70% RH. That's the humi dedicated for resting/aging my CCs. Now everyone here says I should SMOKE the CCs at lower RH levels. But is storing them at ~70% RH O.K. ???

I just changed my 50ct humi over to a blue heartfelt tube that is supposed to hold the humi at 65%. I did as instructed and did not add any water because I wanted to bring the humidity down in the humi. The cheap foam puck that I was using was keeping the humi at 72-74%, but the lowest I can get...

I purchased 1.5lb of these on eBay Click Here This is my first experience with any kind of beads. I put around 4oz in my 100ct desktop humidor by replacing the foam in a rectangle humidifier and I put the rest into a cooler. I moistened the beads and when I checked the next morning, the RH in...

My newly seasoned 200ct humidor is holding 70% with no beads, or any humidifier in it. I do have 75 or so sticks in there, but thought it strange after a week its still holding at 70. I do have 4 oz. of beads coming from Dave, so that will bring the RH down to 65%.
