SLR.... Nov.16th....

Just finished a Saint Luis Rey Churchill. I prefer the double coronas (which I'm patiently trying to pick up), but what an awesome smoke! Any other SLR fans out there? Don't here too much about them here.

I'm a long-gone Waylon song on vinyl.....

Re: SLR.... Nov.16th....

SLR is my second favorite marca right behind RA. I absolutely love the Serie As, Serie Bs from the 70s, Lonsdales from the early 90s, PCs, Churchills (especially en tubo), and I absolutely love the DCs (especially the 01s).

I have only tried the churchills. They have this funky fruit taste (kind of like marmalade or preserve or jam) that I love.

Re: SLR.... Nov.16th....

I enjoy the occasional DC from 2001, and the 1991/1992 SLR Lonsdales are one of my "go-to" smokes. However, it is probably not among my top 5 favorite marcas.

Yeah, thought I tasted something "different" in the first half of the cigar that I couldn't explain, but I liked. Glad to see there's some "Silverbacks" that appreciate them too. :tu

Re: SLR.... Nov.16th....

SLR PC's are great with some age, as others have said 91-ish lonsdales are very good.

I have some 99 lonsdales that are a little flat - I think this is a marca that generally requires long term aging before it starts to shine.
