I started smoking pipes and cigars when I was in high school. We'd buy drug store stuff like Phillies and Black and Milds. My cousin and I would also smoke backwoods because we thought they looked like what Clint Eastwood smoked in the Westerns. For pipes, there was a pipe tobacco shop near-by. We'd buy corn cob pipes at the drug store and then buy aromatics at the pipe shop. The pipe shop was in one of these sea side village types places. You'd go in, and there'd be all these jars and pipes, and it was kinda dark inside....smelled like black cavendish... and some old timer with a beard was running the place. I don't think they exist in California any more. But there was something about sea side shopping villages and pipe shops.....and I think it was the same old guy with a beard running all of them lol.

When I was in my primary school, teachers' room was that area! I remember, when one wanted to ask his teacher something during the break - one would knock the door, open, let the smog cloud go out and then ask if Mrs. Xxx was there because one couldn't see anything either way :]
I think the society is way too restrictive about smoking now but hey, wasn't that insane?

Quit smoking cigarettes in 1988, no nicotine of any form until 2016 when I started smoking cigars and a little Scotch and Burbon in moderation. I average 8-10 cigars a week and 2-3 2oz of spirits. Hey isnít cigars and a little spirits good for us older guys, well I think so anyway!

Cheers

I was 18 in 1998 and at university. We would celebrate end of exams by smoking cigars and drinking vodka.
