Greetings from Chicago

Hello, all.

Have lurked for a while and am enjoying the education. Even though I've been smoking for 17 years, there's always an endless supply of new brands & blends, so the seasoned guidance of this forum is valued.

I've been reeling due to the smoking ban in Chicago, and things appear equally bad when I'm on the road. Tobacco politics is drifting into a third rail of sorts, which makes a reversal in restrictive legislation seem bleak. I imagine my concerns are shared by many in the forum.

When I can find a place to smoke, I'm partial to Hemingways, fuller Avo's, JR's Ultimate in Maduro, and, of course, that amazing value known as the Excalibur. For one reason or another, the Padron's & Opus X I've smoked have left me less than inspired. Right now I'm looking forward to smoking some the the Tatuaje & Oliva blends. Hopefully, there'll be a new favorite....

So that's it by way of introduction. Will leave with two questions that I would value input on:

1) To those of you that have scissors & cutter (Xikar, etc), do you prefer one over the other? Have you experienced any problems with scissors?

2) Given my taste profile above, any recommendations?

Again, looking forward to participating in this pleasent forum.

Lee

Welcome Lee,there are quite a few Chi town area members for you to herf with.
I use a cutter,have a scissors and don't have problems with either.

As far as taste, sans Padron, how about Sancho Panza?Medium to full bodied and a great value...

Re: Greetings from Chicago

Welcome aboard -- I'd recommend the CAO eXtreme line (if you can find any) and the 601 Habano Oscuro (Green label)if you enjoy a fuller flavored smoke.

Hi Lee. Welcome to ClubStogie.

I'd recommend the Oliva "V" and the Rocky patel Decade, both tasty smokes in my opinion!

Hello Lee... and Welcome! :bl

1) Palio cutter. I also like the Xikar I have, but Palio is the gold standard. (not a fan of the scissors I have used)

2) Some of the fuller Rocky Patel stuff... I am currently enjoying his R4 Maduros. Also, the La Flor Dominicana Chisel is a butt-kicking good smoke.

Enjoy the jungle!
