Baffled by the Butler

I have been getting update warning messages from my butler that sits in the humidor that is seasoning. The humidity is too high, it screams to my phone! The thing is I am getting this while I am at work, twenty miles away! How is this voodoo working? It is a Bluetooth device and not connected to my network!

The government agent monitoring your smart devices must be a cigar guy and heís forwarding the alarm to you!

If I see a stick that made a noob nic sick,I put it on my list as a must try. (UBC03)

You may be right my friend! So much for the thought of making that one a CC storage down the road! Sigh

Finally, a problem I know I'll NEVER have. It's about time being an old school, technologically challenged redneck pays off. .

Never had the need for anything other than a simple Hygrometer and some Bovedas.

Okay, here's some actual help...I hope...

According to Amazon reviews and Q&A, people use a Wi-Fi connected device at home w/the app on it and that can then transmit the details to another device.

Personally, the application sounds like crap. Trying to find an online user manual was very frustrating because they all pointed back to the Boveda web site where the document was not there (broken link). When I figured out where the new(?) manual is supposed to be (https://store.bovedainc.com/media/Bo...sers_Guide.pdf) it appears that the document is corrupt Their web services / IT team is embarrassing.

However, I was lucky enough that someone actually stored a copy on their own site so I downloaded it and provide it here as an attachment. You're welcome.

It appears that you are using remote monitoring. See page 8 in the instruction manual on how it's done. That's the only explanation I have given the little information I could find.
