The smoke chest.....

https://highdesertman.com/products/smoke-chest-kit

Anyone seen or better yet have one of these kits. It looks like it fits pretty good in an Amazon Basin box, but I would need to add a clasp and hinges somehow. If anyone has one, what box are you using.

That’s priced way lower than I would have expected. They don’t mention what type of wood they’re using though. I can’t imagine being able to use hardwoods for that price though. Have you seen anything about wood type, finish, or durability?

They look freakin awesome though! I might try making one.

No I haven’t heard what kind of wood. I thought it would be a good idea to cover it with some kind of fire proof finish.
They are priced well and it has to be a cheaper wood.

I researched and researched when I was building the ashtrays. Nothing is fireproof. Good ole poly has been holding up really well on them. Even the butcher block finish on Tyson’s has only patina-ed a bit.

The smoke chest.....

Brian Glen reviewed it and said it is cherry wood. The dude from Cigar Props knows the guy and he also said it is cherry.

Looks pretty neat... would be a great gift... might get one just to use on my smoking patio to keep things organized. Nice assortment of other products as well....

* We apologize that we can no longer include the lighter / cutter combo with this product.....

This might be a deal breaker....

If you search smoke chest on YouTube Vic talks about it and there are quite a few videos.

Cherry is a soft wood, though still not a cheap one. Either way, it can make a gorgeous finished product, so who cares!

I'd have made the purchase had it not said that the lighter and cutter don't come with it...very strange to put it out there and then pull out of the deal.....so discount it. A wooden box by itself isn't going to motivate me to buy...esp. for $37 but that's just me. Weird that they have the lighter/cutter for sale for $10 in their product line....who manages this part of the business where they do stuff like this,...total cost is now around $50.....Dear Twilight Zone.....come get me!
